Tara Weddings covers elopements across Los Angeles — from canyon overlooks to private estate gardens. Whether your ceremony is two people and a justice of the peace or a small intimate group, we photograph and film the whole day and deliver your gallery and short film within six weeks.

Los Angeles Elopement Coverage — What We Provide

An LA elopement with Tara Weddings covers your ceremony, couple portraits, and the candid moments before and after — photographed and filmed as one integrated session. Los Angeles has enormous visual variety: canyon trails in the Santa Monicas, Spanish colonial courtyard venues in Los Feliz, rooftop spaces above downtown, and garden properties in the hills above Silver Lake.

We photograph in natural and available light — no on-camera flash, no strobes — which suits LA's consistent bright overcast and golden-hour light particularly well. On the film side, your elopement short film runs 4–6 minutes and captures the ceremony, the vows, and the portraits in a cohesive narrative edit. The film is delivered digitally and is structured to stand alone as a keepsake without needing the gallery to provide context.

Coverage typically runs two to four hours for a ceremony-plus-portraits format. We're experienced across LA's geography — downtown, the Westside, the Hills, the Valley — and familiar with the permitting requirements for both public and private locations throughout the region.

Elopement Spots & Venues in Los Angeles

Carondelet House at 627 S Carondelet Street is a Spanish Colonial estate in Westlake with an enclosed garden courtyard — private, shaded, and architecturally distinctive in a way that's instantly identifiable as LA without being obviously urban. The Fig House at 6433 N Figueroa in Highland Park is an indoor-outdoor space with a tree-lined courtyard that works beautifully for ceremony of any size.

The Houdini Estate at 2400 Laurel Canyon Blvd brings a genuinely unique setting: a canyon property above Hollywood with terraced gardens, mature trees, and views across the valley. It's unusual and intimate for a city of this size. Valentine DTLA by Wedgewood Weddings at 616 East 4th Street offers a brick-loft downtown setting for couples who want an urban elopement with industrial warmth.

For open-landscape options, Griffith Park (Observatory viewpoint or the trails above), the Temescal Canyon Gateway Park in Pacific Palisades, and the Malibu Creek State Park area all provide accessible outdoor ceremony options within the greater LA area — each with its own visual character and permit requirements.

Los Angeles Elopement — Seasons and Practical Notes

Los Angeles has a Mediterranean climate that's forgiving year-round for outdoor ceremonies. The main exception is Santa Ana wind season (October–November), which can be intense and occasionally dangerous near canyon areas. The marine layer along the coast burns off by midday most of the year, and golden-hour light in autumn and winter — around 5–6 p.m. — is some of the warmest and most photogenic we see in California.

Spring and fall tend to be the most popular elopement seasons in LA: comfortable temperatures, lower wildfire risk than late summer, and long golden-hour windows. Summer mornings before 10 a.m. in coastal areas (Santa Monica, Malibu, Pacific Palisades) produce beautiful soft light and cooler conditions than inland locations.

Traffic and parking logistics matter in LA more than almost anywhere else. For locations that require driving between a ceremony site and a portrait location, we build transit time into the session plan rather than assuming it will be fast.
