Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers — a geography that gives it an elevated perspective on its own downtown from the South Side slopes and Mt. Washington that few American cities can match. The view from the Grandview Overlook or Duquesne Incline top station, with all three rivers visible and the downtown skyline's glass and steel spread below, is one of the most dramatic urban panoramas in the Northeast.

For elopements, Pittsburgh rewards exploration beyond the downtown core: the Mexican War Streets neighborhood's Victorian brownstones, the South Side's converted steel-industry buildings, the Penn Avenue arts corridor in the Strip District, and the Carnegie Library gardens in Oakland all provide very different visual environments within 15–20 minutes of each other.

The Art Room at 2010 Smallman Street in the Strip District occupies an art-filled loft space in Pittsburgh's most creative neighborhood, walkable to the Strip's market corridor and the Allegheny River.

Franklin on Penn at 2815 Penn Ave in the Bloomfield neighborhood is a community arts venue with genuine character in one of Pittsburgh's most neighborhood-driven areas. The Circuit Center at 5 Hot Metal St on the South Side is a converted industrial space with river views toward the downtown skyline.

For outdoor settings, the Duquesne Incline's Mt. Washington station overlook, Point State Park at the confluence (permit required for organized ceremonies), and the Schenley Park rose garden in Oakland all provide distinctly Pittsburgh outdoor elopement backdrops.

The city's visual character — steel and glass, rivers and bridges, Victorian neighborhoods above the industrial valleys — produces photographs with a very particular sense of place. We photograph in natural light and time portrait sessions around the extraordinary golden-hour light that falls on the three rivers and the downtown glass towers.
