At a Glance

Bermuda is not in the Caribbean. It sits in the North Atlantic roughly a thousand kilometres off the North Carolina coast, which gives it a subtropical climate, a summer season that runs opposite to the Caribbean's, and a two-hour flight time from the US East Coast.

Why Couples Marry in Bermuda

Bermuda's distinctiveness starts with the fact that it is not a Caribbean island, and does not look like one. It is a British Overseas Territory with pastel limestone houses, white stepped roofs built to catch rainwater, and beaches whose sand carries a genuine pink cast from crushed shell and coral fragments. Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay are the best known.

The practical draw is proximity. Bermuda is around two hours' flying from New York and not much more from Boston or Toronto, which makes it one of the few genuinely scenic destinations a guest list can reach without a full day of travel.

Where Weddings Happen in Bermuda

The south shore holds the pink-sand beaches and most of the resort properties. Hamilton, the capital, sits on the harbour on the north side and offers a very different setting — waterfront, colonial architecture, and the town itself. St George's in the east is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the New World and a UNESCO World Heritage site, with narrow lanes and stone buildings that photograph completely unlike a beach.

The island is long and narrow, so nothing is far in distance, but the single main road is slow and rental cars are not available to visitors — transport is by taxi, ferry, bus or scooter. Guest logistics need planning around that.

Properties couples ask about most often include Rosewood Bermuda, The Loren at Pink Beach on the south shore, and the Hamilton Princess on the harbour.

Best Time for a Bermuda Wedding

This is where Bermuda diverges sharply from the Caribbean. Its season runs from about May through October, when the water is warm enough to swim and temperatures sit in the high seventies and eighties Fahrenheit. Winter is not tropical: December through March is cool, grey and often windy, with temperatures in the sixties, and many properties reduce operations.

The Atlantic hurricane season applies here too, June through November, and Bermuda's mid-ocean position puts it directly in the path of recurving storms — August through October carries genuine risk, and the island is unusually well prepared for it, but a date in that window still needs a plan.

Late spring and early autumn — May, June, September, early October — tend to give the best combination of warmth, light and lower storm probability.

How We Cover a Bermuda Wedding

Full-day documentary coverage from preparations through the reception. Travel is included in the package price, so the figure on the pricing page is what a Bermuda wedding costs.

We arrive ahead of the wedding day. On an island where visitors cannot drive themselves and the main road is slow, knowing the real transfer times between a south-shore beach and a Hamilton reception is what keeps a timeline honest.
