Dominican Republic drone regulations fall under the Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil (IDAC). Commercial drone operators must register and obtain authorization from IDAC — we carry all required permits and manage the process. The Dominican Republic spans two distinct climatic zones: the northern and eastern coasts (where Punta Cana and Puerto Plata are located) face the Atlantic and Caribbean respectively, while the southern coast around Santo Domingo has its own rainfall pattern. For most destination weddings, the eastern Punta Cana and Las Terrenas zones are most commonly chosen. The dry season from November through April brings reliably clear skies, gentle trade winds, and the calmest ocean conditions of the year. Golden hour falls between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. depending on the month, with December offering the shortest days and January through April gradually extending golden hour.

The rainy season from May through October is characterized by warm, humid conditions with afternoon showers that are typically brief. Caribbean hurricane season from June through November requires weather planning and flexible contracts. The shoulder season in November is particularly appealing for filming: lower crowds at venues, reasonable prices, and weather that is transitioning into dry season reliability. September is the highest-risk hurricane month and is generally not recommended for fixed-date destination weddings. Las Terrenas on the Samaná Peninsula has a different microclimate from Punta Cana — receiving more rain overall — but offers extraordinary lush jungle and beachfront settings that are spectacular in post-rain light.
