Permits are required from the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History) and spaces are extremely limited — we advise booking two-plus years in advance for this setting.

From November through April — the dry season — skies are reliably clear, trade winds are gentle, and the turquoise water is at its calmest. Golden hour falls between 5:45 and 6:15 p.m. in winter, with the sun setting behind the Yucatan jungle and casting warm backlight across the beach. This is the most popular and cinematically reliable period for Riviera Maya destination weddings.

May through October is the rainy season, with the highest rainfall and humidity from July through September. Caribbean-facing beaches tend to see brief afternoon showers rather than extended rainfall events, and resort venues along the Riviera Maya are designed around this variability with covered terraces and retractable awnings. The vegetation reaches peak lushness during rainy season, and the contrast between the deep jungle green and the turquoise water is visually extraordinary. Cenote water is typically clearest in the dry season when rain runoff is minimal, which matters for aerial and ground filming at cenote venues. October and November are transitional months with lower humidity than peak wet season and gradually improving sky conditions — many couples find the combination of lower rates and better weather than September makes this an attractive window.
