At a Glance

Turks and Caicos sits at the southern end of the Bahamas chain. Most weddings happen on Providenciales, where a barrier reef sits offshore and keeps the water on Grace Bay unusually flat and shallow — the reason its colour photographs the way it does.

Why Couples Marry in Turks and Caicos

The reef is the whole story. It runs parallel to the north shore of Providenciales, absorbing the swell before it reaches land, which leaves Grace Bay calm even on windy days. Shallow water over white sand is what produces the banded turquoise that shows up in every photograph of the island.

The islands are low and dry — scrub and salt flats rather than rainforest — so the light is hard and clean, closer to Aruba than to St Lucia. The US dollar is the local currency and flights from the US East Coast are short, which removes a lot of the friction that makes other Caribbean destinations complicated for American guests.

Where Weddings Happen in Turks and Caicos

Almost all wedding infrastructure is on Providenciales, and most of it along Grace Bay. The resorts sit shoulder to shoulder there, which means a beach ceremony is rarely private in the way couples imagine — the beach is public and busy in high season. Properties further from the centre of the bay, or on the quieter northwest shore, trade convenience for space.

Away from Provo, the outer islands are a different proposition entirely. Half-day trips to the uninhabited cays are possible for portraits, but they are boat journeys and need to be planned as their own event rather than squeezed between the ceremony and dinner.

Properties couples ask about most often include Grace Bay Club, Seven Stars and The Palms along the bay, and Amanyara on the remote northwest coast.

Best Time for a Turks and Caicos Wedding

The islands are dry year-round by Caribbean standards, and the difference between seasons is smaller than elsewhere in the region. High season runs from December through April, when demand and rates peak. The Atlantic hurricane season falls between June and November, with the greatest risk from August into October.

Temperatures sit in the eighties Fahrenheit for most of the year, and the trade winds keep it bearable. Late summer is hotter and stiller, which is worth knowing if you are planning a midday outdoor ceremony.

Grace Bay faces north, so the sun neither rises nor sets over the water directly in front of most resorts. The best light on the bay is early morning and the last hour before sunset, when the sun is low along the beach rather than behind it.

How We Cover a Turks and Caicos Wedding

Full-day documentary coverage, from preparations through the reception. Travel is included in every package — flights, accommodation and ground transport are already covered by the package price.

We arrive before the wedding day. On a busy public beach the difference between a good ceremony position and a crowded one is knowing where the resort loungers end and how the crowd shifts through the afternoon.
